Our first win of the season, and a satisfying one at that!
We knew what to expect heading into the game, having played Marvels in our pre-season build-up. The result was a loss at that time, however we took great learning’s heading into the competition game.
Amorangi, Grace and Alex again joined us after the Magic game, and played the full 60 minutes. Their impact and presence added to the team environment where connections and support where key.
A solid defensive game right through the court shut down Marvels attacking options which forced numerous held balls and wayward passes, which we were able to convert.
The increase in shooting attempts was pleasing to see compared to previous weeks. Even though our shooting percentage overall was low, we continued to attack the ball and put the shots up – ensuring we continued to split the Marvels defence.
Numerous substitutions were made by the Marvels, however the team kept their heads and adjusted to the different styles of play. Alternatively, our substitutions in the second half added value to the game and the foundations already set, allowing the team to continue their momentum.
A pleasing result and overall team effort.
