A strong start to our second game of the season was pleasing to see, with the injection of Amorangi, Grace and Alex from the Magic team, bringing great intensity, strength and communication through-out the court.
Our defensive end of Micaela, Emily and Alex created great pressure on the South attack end, particularly at their centre pass, and with the height of Grace at centre the game was ours for the taking.
Ball speed was key, and keeping the ball short after gaining possession from a turnover was critical however not always executed. As with connecting our defence end with our attack and making links on the through court ball, a continued work on.
Amorangi and Jess were a strong combination in our shooting end, and provided our feeders with direction and open space. The absence of Amorangi on court exposed our young and in-experienced attacking end.
The integration of the Alex, Grace and Amorangi into the team proved to be a seamless transition and a pleasure to have them on board for the weekend. It came with a noticeable drop in team performance when they weren’t on the court (third quarter), which is a testament to the level and skill that they bring into the team environment.
A much improved performance overall from last week, ably led by Emily.
